The requirement for a minimum of three rows of porous baffles in sediment basins is established to enhance sediment capture and control. Having three rows ensures that there is sufficient surface area and hydraulic resistance to adequately trap sediment particles of various sizes as they move through the basin. In contrast, fewer than three rows may not provide the necessary effectiveness in sediment trapping, which could result in inadequate performance of the sediment basin function.
